Meet Mark from Sampson Rural Fencing…
Recently we had the privilege of meeting and working alongside Mark and Karen, founders of Sampson Rural Fencing. Mark is truly an expert in his field, with over 17 years experience in the industry. He has a passion for creating rural fences that last the test of time.
He needed to get the word out there in the local community and let them know he was here to help, but he wasn’t sure how to start…
We had plenty of ideas to help. We began the process with creating a

* logo and branding

this flowed onto developing

* a website
* business cards
* leaflets and corflute signs

Now the word is well and truly out there! Thanks for letting us be part of your project Mark and Karen – we love working with you both!

Basic Design Tips

Basic Design Tips

You don’t have to be a graphic designer to make things look amazing, follow these 5 tips to get you started…
but don’t panic if it all seems too much, we have a huge team of creative designers that can get your next project looking amazing!

1. Have a plan. Before you start, have a goal, make sure you know what you want your marketing material to say, keep the message clear and keep it simple – stick to the plan!

2. Make a mood board – This will help you to find a common colour palette or theme that can then be applied to a project to bring cohesion. Use different tones of the same colour for consistency by adjusting brightness for contrast.

3. Fonts – Pick 2 fonts, one for your headings and one for your body text, choose fonts that complement each other, and that are in line with your brand.

4. White Space – Don’t be afraid of space. Make sure each of your elements have room to breathe. The elements (photos, text and logos) can end up competing against each other when you try to fill the entire space.

5.Fresh eyes. Recharge your batteries and take a break. Come back and have another look later with fresh eyes.

3 Ways to Improve Your Workspace

3 Ways to Improve Your Workspace

How your workplace is designed has a huge impact on your mood, performance and productivity.

Whether your office is at home or at work consider these 3 tips to improve your working environment for your self, and your team!

1. Have a space for every occasion… depending on the nature of your business, your work space may need to cater for several scenarios. If you can, it’s great to create areas for different times and tasks, eg. Have a quiet zone for focused and concentrated tasks, as well as a team area where you can collaborate and be creative. It may also be important to have a private and confidential working space too…think about what is most important for you and your team and come up with a plan to best use the space you have.

2. Where possible have some natural light and live plants. Many studies over time have revealed that adding indoor plants improves your health, happiness and productivity in the workplace. Natural light also promotes performance!

3. Make it Personal – photos, dream boards. Having a space for people to express themselves at work, and a space for them to share and display what they love is important and increases the sense of belonging and promotes loyalty within the team

2019 Design Trends

2019 Design Trends

Welcome to 2019! The start of the year is always full of exciting plans, goals and ideas for the future. One thing that really excites us at printing.com is taking a look at what trends will be shaping the design world in the new year! We’ve been doing our research, talking to our people, and here are 3 trends that we are most looking forward to seeing this year.

1) Bold Typography and Experimental Layouts

This was a trend that started emerging last year and is set to grow more and more. Designers are experimenting with the limits of type and legibility as well as creating unexpected and unique layouts that challenge and thrill the viewer. A quick google search for “experimental type” brings up many modern examples of how this is used. Putting a whole lot of creative thought into how designers lay up their work can create incredible hierarchies of information and design that catches the eye – and keeps it there.

2) Floating Elements

Something we’ve noticed at PDC that we think is truly VERY cool is the addition of floating elements to many designs. For a few years now we have had the “Flat Lay” trend (thanks largely to instagram!) however many creatives are now moving away from this 2d format and experimenting with borderline surrealism in how they present their work.

3) Colour and more colour

Big, bold colour has made a comeback in the last few years. And we’re looking at more of this for 2019 – stand out colours, particularly against dark backgrounds where they really make an impact. There are few things that will draw your eye to a message like a bold and inviting colour!

Curious about these trends and how they could be worked into your branding this year? Make sure you get in touch with your local studio today because we would love to chat to you about your ideas.
