Become Memorable to your Clients

Getting and keeping your customer’s attention is not always an easy task.

 

So how can you and your business be seen and remembered among the noise? The key is to become, a remembered and trusted brand.

The best way to become these things is to do good; on more levels than just business. Let’s look at your town as an example. There are many ways that you can become a pillar within your community by providing jobs, stimulating the economy, and lifting others up by supporting local or charitable organisations. You will earn their community’s respect by being an active, generous part of it.

Here are some ideas on how you can engage in this concept.

Volunteer or serve a local charity or initiative in your area, by becoming involved you will make meaningful connections whilst doing great work, there may also be ways in which your business can directly support the organisation that you are personally supporting.

Business Partnerships. Consider forming strategic business partnerships with other businesses in your area, together you can grow stronger. When making your choice, some things to think of are how your services can complement each other, this is not only beneficial for the two business involved, but also for the clients you serve, as they receive a seamless experience between the both of you.

Sponsorship is also a great way to showcase your community values, get creative with this one, it doesn’t just need to look like donating a prize for a raffle, it could look like a range of different things, put your head together with the organisation that it needing support and you will be amazed at what you may come up with together.

Whatever you decide to partner with, the connection has to feel real, it has to come from a place of really wanting to make and see a lasting change, don’t take on too much, only take on what feels manageable to avoid burning out. You will not become recognised in your community overnight, but your generosity will be recognised and trusted by doing small good deeds in your community over a period of time.

Bring on the “friendly” banter!

After an intensive 20 rounds of Super Rugby, we have reached the point of no return. With just four teams remaining we look ahead to this weekend’s semi-finals as they battle it out to be crowned Investec Super Rugby Champs 2018. It’s all so exciting, the build up, the banter and of course throwing your support to any team playing the Ozzies!
At the end of the day, irrespective of which team wins, rugby is the overall winner… Well, it is if your under the age of five. See, I’d like to think at the end of the day, humble supporters like you and I is what makes rugby so great (cue in patriot soundtrack).
Over the last 2 years, I’ve had the privilege of hosting a Super Rugby Sweepstake between friends and work collages. Last year we started with 19 participants and grew to 38 this year. Each individual will start off with the team they support and will select the winning team and margin from one game to the next throughout the season. This makes for an interesting Monday and creates the good old “friendly banter”. Its a great way to keep in touch too, and building relationships. As the season goes on the friendly banter forms close bonds between fellow comrades. Let’s use me as an example. I am a faithful Hurricane supporter (others would probably use the term ‘die-hard’ or ‘fanatic’) naturally I would gravitate to other fellow Hurricane supporters. My wife aka ‘anticanes’ (her sweepstake name) is somewhat of a mediocre Auckland Blues “fan”, you can’t really fault her wavering support given the seasons the Blues have had.
This led me to think about all the different type of supporters I’ve had to date in hosting Super Rugby Picks and thought that I would touch on 4 common Super Rugby Fan traits.
No. 4 – The Bench warmers: These are fans that don’t really know the names of any of the players let alone the name of the team they’re supporting but they support them because Blue is their favorite color. They keep the seats warm by being there and contribute nothing but positive vibes for whatever team is winning.
No. 3 – Bandwagon fans: Day1 Warriors supporters … need I say more!
No. 2 – The Eternal Optimists: These fans take a very strengths based approach to Rugby by convincing themselves that after 5 seasons of being at the bottom of the overall table they will make a miraculous comeback. Next year turns 3 years and next minute your franchise haven’t won a title since the days of Sean Fitzpatrick. Moving along, we come to our loyal
No. 1- Die Hard / No retreat, no surrender fans: Their commitment levels are through the roof and fans will generally take about a week to recover if their team looses. These fans immediately turn into professional referee, TMO and commentators overnight. If you happen to find yourself in the same venue supporting the opposing team, these fans are the ones that you love to hate. Real die-hard fanatical fans.
So, if you find yourself in the local pub or sitting in front of the tele watching the Super Rugby semi-finals make sure you keep an eye out to see if you can spot some of these common fan traits.
For now, from one die-hard Hurricane fan to another… GO WELL BOYS, CANES UP!

Aside from being the ‘Beautiful game’ and the world’s “most widely viewed sporting event,” The World Cup is held by FIFA, and like the ‘Olympic Games’ and the ‘Rugby World Cup’, takes place every four years to determine the world champions.
To celebrate this year’s tournament in Russia, we put together 5 interesting facts you may or may not already know to get you into the soccer spirit for the 2018 World Cup, Russia:

To start with – the first ever World Cup was held and played in Uruguay 1930 with only 13 teams, most of which were South American teams participating.
The most astonishing fact is that Uruguay was both the tournament host and winner that year.

Back in 1966, the famous World Cup trophy had gone missing for seven days and was later reported stolen just prior to the tournament ‘kicking off’.

An Interesting fact – every World Cup to date had been won by a coach who is the same nationality as his national team.

Russia’s highest finish was in 1966 fourth place, this after an 11th World Cup appearance. Not bad given the poll of other international power house countries and also the fact that this year is the first time Russia has ever hosted the World Cup.

Since Uruguay 1930, the tournament has become the ‘greatest international sporting event’ ever and as the years went on ‘power house’ Brazil has won the most titles, while Germany have suffered the most finals losses.

If history repeats, I’m off to get myself a Brazilian…Jersey.

How do we know? Because each printing.com studio is owned and run by someone just like you. As part of a franchise, we got some help along the way, but we know it’s still tough out there – from getting customers to retaining great staff.

Let’s take a look at a few of the challenges we’ve had to face as small business owners.

Standing out from your competitors
Most of us operate in highly competitive marketplaces. Print is more competitive than most. Stand out from the crowd, by creating a really strong brand that represents your business and then put a lot of effort into developing your reputation. Don’t try to be all things to all people, but focus on a key niche and find a way to dominate that niche.

Finding customers
Your customers are living their lives surrounded by many, many influences. Spend time identifying exactly WHO they are. Spend time describing your customer and give them a name. Discover as much as you can about them, what they like to do, where they hang out and what they read. Only then can you find effective ways to target them, communicate with them and gain their loyalty.

Being discovered
In the old days people used Yellow Pages to find a local business, but now they turn to Google. Be sure you’re represented online with a website, optimised for Search,  and that you have registered your business through various search engines, including Google My Business.

Making money
It seems obvious, doesn’t it? But actually making money and safeguarding cash flow is a real challenge to most small businesses. It’s hard to invest in marketing when the money isn’t there, but you have to take a leap of faith, trust in your business, back yourself, and invest in marketing.  It really helps to create a budget, a business plan and indeed a marketing plan. Focus on creative ways to market your business cost-effectively – this is something we pride ourselves on at PDC – cost-effective marketing techniques that deliver results – we know because we’ve used them ourselves to market our own businesses!

Keeping customers
When you find the right customers, they stay with you – that’s the beauty of spending a lot of time discovering EXACTLY who your customers are. Once you have them, spend most of your energy on keeping them. It’s the 80:20 rule, so spend time and money on growing these customers. Create a customer retention plan – keep in touch with them with regular comms so they don’t forget about you.

Burnout
You passionate about your business – you have to be to succeed. But keep things in perspective to avoid burnout. Manage your stress, create a healthy work environment and create healthy habits that give you alternative focuses away from work.
